Sharon sort of--buys into the idea that they're these untouchable godlike beings who cannot ultimately be injured or killed (Naruto is trying to tell her that people should attack the Personae!! next time there's a kill game or something). At the same time, she thinks they are terribly rude and badly-behaved, and goodness, if only there was a way to box their ears and send them to bed without any supper. :'( She mostly concerns herself with people and has little interest in them beyond the ones that might be a threat to her team--and that's only for the duration of a game that might cause harm to Kunzite.
Allen has pretty much the exact opposite opinion! \:D/ He thinks they're just basically overpowered bullies--sort of like a supernatural equivalent of the circus people who treated him like shit just because he was a scrawny defenseless kid who had nowhere else to go! HE HAS SOME PARALLELS DRAWN IN HIS HEAD! His biggest concern is that he doesn't think he's smart enough to think through a lot of the rules/restrictions/etc, but at the same time that doesn't lessen his desire TO do something, anything! WHATEVER HE CAN! He's also interacted with more of them on a personal level and it just sort of emphasizes his opinion that they're just people--overly-powered people who either wilfully blind to what they're doing to the heroes/knights or else outright malicious. Maleficent is pretty much the only one that he feels a modicum of respect for.
WILL YOU EVER RUN A HEART GAME (OR MORE) FOR LLOYD? Have you thought about it at all?
I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IT A LOT! The problem is that the heart game of my heart for Lloyd Irving's dumb self is not very... gamey. It's just sort of sprawling and there is not a lot you can do in there besides explore derpily. Which I like in a themeatic sense, since Lloyd is very much someone who changes by his own will rather than by being swayed by people unconsciously! But I don't know how fun it would be to actually... play in. (I've considered redesigning his game to be more conventionally easy to influence and navigate, but it makes me roll around sadly to think about it too hard.)
Haru suggested that I just run the game with the caveat HEY IF YOUR CHARACTER IS TERRIFIED TO MAKE CHANGES TO PEOPLE THIS GAME IS FOR YOU, because it would just be like Lloyd Irving's Dumb Heart Picnic possibly and that could be another kind of fun. I'm considering it. :B
Moooostly because of that one UNLOCK THE CASTLE AND THE OTHER PERSONAE!! game--he saw the memorytalk between her and Beauty and felt like she was being much more reasonable about ... everything, really. Also their short conversation when he was examining the statues sort of reinforced that she, at least, has a good head on her shoulders and hit the right buttons to make him be good and not pry. Also, nearly every other Persona he's met (except Odile, who offered Sapphire a boon/listened to his request, so he's grateful to her for that) has not really ... impressed him. He doesn't dislike even most of them! But they're still just ... people that haven't done anything really outstanding to impress him or shown to carry themselves in a way that justifies any moral/personal/etc superiority over him. :|a
How is Lloyd feeling on the Personae in general right now, then?
He doesn't have much of an "in general" on them any more except when he's talking to other people! His feelings on the Personae are pretty individual, and when he assesses them as people he doesn't really think about the "Persona" thing. :|a He likes quite a few of them, even ones like the White Queen who've already said that their games will get more difficult! That said he is still not thrilled with their way of handling the teams, obviously. The ones who make more of an effort to get to know the heroes as individuals on some level get way more props from him.
All in all he has kind of reconciled them to himself as people who hold very different values than him on what prices must needs be paid to save the world, and is both not letting that get in the way of him liking them necesssarily while still being completely determined to show them that there's another way that can and should be explored.
Three DUMB THINGS!! Lloyd and Allen should do sometime \o/
1. ATTEMPT MATH. I have no idea how or why this would come up but it cracked me up the one time they were trying to figure out how many people were in Aather and got stuck on "IT'S A LOT . . ."
2. Relatedly(??) I think it'd be fun if Lloyd ended up with Sapphire for some a game where the point wasn't necessarily trauma, but like ... really dumb things. ANOTHER DRESSUP GAME OR WHATEVER. Just generally a game setting where they had to work together and got to be failboys because it's something outside of their normal realm of interest/influence.
3. Normally I would say "get drunk together" but Allen is a horrible drunk that breaks everything around him when he's tipsy so MAYBE NOT though it could also be funny. :|a
ARE YOU STILL HOPING FOR THAT SQUIRREL DUDE TO GET APPED
I'd love to play with Sapphire again! IT'S BEEN A WHILE. He got to play with them for the pony game but Allen Walker's stupid face wasn't around that time 8(!! AND YES MATH PLEASE. I am willing to risk drunkenness :|a
oh my god yes. Emil is my forever hope for a castmate. DO YOU HAVE ANY DEEP BURNING CASTMATE NEEDS LIKE THAT?
I WAS AT WORK WHEN THAT GAME STARTED, ALAS :( MAYBE IF THERE IS ANOTHER SIMILAR GAME!! maybe Allen can tell Lloyd about his terrible master and destroy a few trees in his drunken irritation.
I THINK THE ONE I WANT MOST IS KANDA :|a On a selfish level I want it because I think it'd be hilarious if we got one after Allen remembers Kanda being all I'M GLAD YOU WERE THERE, ALLEN WALKER!! and all ~nice~ and stuff. I WILL BEAT FRIENDSHIP INTO YOUR SKULL or I'll let Lenalee stomp it into you, one or the other!!
What team would you put Emil on, if he came and you had a say in it?
Peridot. Actually in my absolute ideal future, I would good end Shadowchild, someone would app Emil into Peridot, and I would immediately have an excuse to continue threading with all Peridots forever because they'd all decide to hate Lloyd. Yessss.
What is your favorite thing Pandora Hearts has done with Sharon?
THEY INSULTED MY NONEXISTENT MOTHER, THAT'S WHAT!!
Probably the most recent couple of chapters--where she basically tops Gil into having tea with her while he's agonizing and self-hating and basically BEING GIL and she's like :) come have tea with auntie Sharon :) and it's adorable.
Also the part where she explicitly tells Break everything that is wrong with him and then they just sort of flop together and it's EVEN MORE ADORABLE!! I really hope that Mochizuki will stop teasing about getting to see Equus in fighting action, though, because every time Sharon ends up getting cockblocked and I'm like 8(!! but when it happens I bet my face will be like 8DDD and I will revise the answer I am leaving you right now.
Pimp me a Tales character you think would be my type. It does not matter if they are already apped. :|a!
I will pimp to you only from Tales of Symphonia because I am selfish like that. 8(
Hmmm. I think of your type as like... terrifying little girls and dumb boys and somehow, inexplicably, Hakuren Oak, who is kind of like a fusion between the two. And it is from that murky place that I say I can actually see you liking Raine Sage a lot! Raine is a really interesting, understated character and you don't see a lot of different aspects of her in the game without going out of your way to do so. I love her dearly. 8(
She's introduced as a Responsible Adult - a teacher - in Lloyd's life, and she's also the big sister of his best friend Genis. She's initially played pretty straight as a mix between a cool intellectual and an easily-angered big sis type who isn't afraid to spank her little brother or kick pretty much anyone in the face if you hit one of her rage buttons (defacing ruins does that! HOW COULD YOU, THEY ARE PRICELESS PIECES OF HISTORY—). It's comical, but she's still very responsible and mature! ...which is kind of strange, actually, because she's only 21 and she's only the one of the adults on this trip by default because everyone is younger than her and used to deferring to her in the classroom.
She obviously cares about the party, but she's very cold about some aspects of what they're doing, and you gradually get more reasons behind this bitterness. She's a half-elf who's kept her and her brother's identity a secret out of fear since they were abandoned as very young children; she's moral enough to not want to join Team Half-Elves Commit Genocide, but ruthless enough to ignore its existence in favor of keeping herself and her baby brother safe. Her urge to treat terribleness as matters of cold logic wars with her emotional responses to a lot of things, but usually her sensible side wins out, except for things like finding her mentally ill mother who abandoned her again after twelve years. :x Ultimately, like everyone in ToS, she's searching for something to give her faith in the fact that she and the world around her can change for the better — but more than most characters, she needs it to be proved to her, step by reasoned step.
Despite all this, her sensible cool facade is not a facade! It's also who she is. She's mothering and intellectual and gets extremely fangirly over archaelogical sites and constantly badgers Lloyd to do homework and makes everyone in the party flee her potential wrath when someone accidentally throws a kendama at her head. She is also a terrible cook and doesn't realize how bad she is. There's a lot to Raine! She's just... a lovely example of a character who knows herself and her limits and what she feels is the most rational approach both before she gets topped into becoming a worldsaver, and after... and she's at peace with herself in both incarnations, and will love on the party in her own cool no-nonsense way and occasionally tie them up and force them to do their multiplication tables. IDEK! I LOVE HER.
